Free Talktime & Data To Help Citizens Of Chennai

Chennai has been harshly hit by unprecedented rains and floods. You only see water everywhere in the city and people of Chennai are facing lots of troubles from drinking water to power. Several people could not even reach their homes and are stranded in places like airport and railway station. There has been no power for several days at some places. A candle is sold for Rs 100. Telecom services too have been interrupted at some places in Chennai due to lack of power.

To help the people of Chennai citizens several telecom companies announced free talktime and data to their mobile subscribers. Some telecom companies announced extension of billing cycle.

To begin with, Airtel announced Rs. 30 for its prepaid mobile customers. Prepaid subscribers would also get free 50 MB mobile data that can be used in two days. Apart from this its landline / broadband, postpaid subscribers whose bills are due – will automatically get extended due date to make their payments.

Public sector telecom company BSNL announced free local and STD calls to other BSNL mobile phone users and also a free 100 MB data to be used in next seven days to its prepaid subscribers. It also announced billing cycle extension by 15 days and rental rebate for seven days.

Following those footsteps Vodafone too announced 10 minutes of Vodafone to Vodafone calling plus Rs 10 talktime to the prepaid subscribers. Vodafone subscribers would also get a 100 MB free mobile data.

RCom mobile subscribers would get free 50 MB mobile data plus 10 minutes of free calling all over India.

Aircel is offering free 10 minutes Aircel to Aircel calls for the next three days. Aircel subscribers would also get free 100MB 2G/3G data ( valid for 3 days ), 10 Free SMS across India.

Paytm too extended its helping hand. You can call on the tollfree number 18001030033 and share the mobile number you want to get recharged. That phone number will get Rs 30 free mobile recharge instantly.

According to Union Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, landline calls in Chennai circle will be free for a week and no telephone will be disconnected due to non payment of bills for another 15 days.

As it happened many times, help is pouring in from many generous people through social media. Some offer free recharge while some offer accommodation, food, medical consultation and many other things.
